When a movie series is made if it does really well there will probably be a sequel. A sequel is just a continuation of the story (usually). Sometimes a series chooses to make a prequel.
What is a prequel???
A prequel is a film that takes place before the original but is made after the original. These can either go good or bad, or possibly it’s just okay.
Now you can read more interesting tips that go into a prequel.
Why we need them?
In a half decent prequel, well to actually make a prequel it is needed for there first to be a strong enough story from the original for there to even be a reason to make a film that takes place before the original. Something else that is important is to make sure people care enough about the story of the original or originals for them to want to go see the prequel.
In some cases even if there is a good amount of material to make a prequel it might not always be a good idea…
Prequels, IS IT THE BEST IDEA???
In some instances making a sequel film is not a very good idea. For example when the StarWars prequel trilogy was made it wasn’t very liked among StarWars fans probably the least popular being the first prequel StarWars the Phantom Menace.
StarWars Attack of the Clones was a massive failure, in fact it made the least amount of money out of money and according tohttps://www.statista.com/chart/20306/star-wars-box-office-results/ “It shows that Episode II, released in 2002, was the least commercially successful entry to the franchise.”
This quote is directed to the second sequel to the original prequel. Though all this is not to say that all prequels do horribly.
For example after the massive success of the film Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark in 1981, there was almost no doubt that there was going to be a second film. This second film was a prequel called Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. This movie was also a success making 333.1 million dollars.
